Sierra Boggess, star of The Little Mermaid, School of Rock, The Phantom of the Opera, and more, is returning to Feinstein’s/54 Below with a concert of songs from her hit shows—and some exciting new tunes and stories from her year of globetrotting and music-making.
The Olivier Award nominee has performances scheduled for 7 PM September 4 and 6–9 at the supper club, located at 254 West 54th Street in Manhattan.
She told Playbill, “I have just returned from my debut performance in Australia and my solo debut in Japan, so this show is a ‘coming home’ with the concert that I was doing all over the world.
In this particular show, I share about my time on the other side of the world, and inspiration I have taken from everywhere....I want everyone to walk away feeling lighter and inspired. I think it’s so important in the state of our world right now to remind ourselves that we are ‘light workers’ and through my show I want to help renew our ‘light energy.’”
Boggess will include songs that people expect, including “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, along with numbers from The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel, Love Never Dies. She also plans to feature “one of the songs from Little Mermaid that was written specifically for the stage version of the show that I have never before done in concert.”
As a special feature, she will read “some of the letters my grandparents wrote to each other during World War II. I usually go into ‘Smoke Gets In Your Eyes’ and ‘You’ll Never Know,’ but for this version of the concert I have decided to sing ‘Love Never Dies’ after I read the letters…because the title of the song speaks for itself and it’s also one of my favorite songs I have ever sung and favorite roles I’ve ever played for Andrew [Lloyd Webber].”
She added, ”I always love performing at 54 Below. It feels a bit like home. It’s the first place where I began creating my solo show, and so coming back there is always really special for me. I’m so excited to share what I’ve been doing and hopefully bringing joy to the 54 Below crowd!“
Musical director Brian Hertz will lead a band of five Broadway musicians, featuring the headliner’s sister, Summer Boggess, on cello.
Boggess is also scheduled to make her seaborne debut in 2018 on Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises. Tickets are also now on sale for Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas July 2018 cruise to Iceland, also featuring Judy Kuhn, Christine Ebersole, Rob McClure, Jarrod Spector, and Carmen Cusack.
Cabins are also available forBroadway on the Danube River with Michael Feinstein for November 3-13, 2017, also featuring Rachel Bay Jones, Julia Murney, Christopher Fitzgerald, Marc Kudisch, Christopher Sieber, Brandon Uranowitz, and Seth Rudetsky, as well as other exciting talent to be announced.
