Shoshana Bean, who can currently be seen on Broadway in Waitress, will make her Feinstein’s/54 Below debut at the midtown hotspot in August. While the performer’s recent slate of concerts have focused on her R&B and blues discography outside of the Broadway realm (including from her most recent album Spectrum), the summer set will feature songs exclusively from the musical theatre canon.
Performances, under the music direction of James Sampliner, are scheduled for 7 PM August 24, 27, 29, 30, and 31.
Bean returned to Broadway in March after a 13-year absence, playing Jenna in Sara Bareilles’ Waitress; she’ll end her extended limited engagement July 21. (Alison Luff will then take center stage in the musical, set to close January 5, 2020.)
Her additional credits include Wicked—playing Elphaba both on Broadway and on tour—and Hairspray, which marked her Broadway debut. She also starred in the Encores! Off-Center presentation of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World last year and joined the composer for his recent SubCulture residency concert at the Town Hall.
Audiences can expect tunes from some of the aforementioned shows, as well as glimpses of roles she wants to play and/or will never play.
Tickets are on sale to Club 54 members and will be made available to the public July 22 at noon.
