Shoshana Bean returns to Broadway for the first time since starring in Wicked, taking center stage in Waitress. She assumes the central role of Jenna in a limited engagement from March 18 through May 12.
Prior to becoming the first actor to play Elphaba on Broadway full-time after Idina Menzel, Bean made her Broadway debut in Hairspray. Her additional stage credits include Encores! Off-Center's 2018 presentation of Songs for a New World (a cast album for which was recently released), Funny Girl at North Shore Music Theatre, and the musical adaptation of Beaches. As a recording artist, she has released three solo studio albums: Superhero, O'Farrell Street, and, most recently, Spectrum, which took her to the top of Billboard's Jazz charts last year.
The current company of the Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson musical includes New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre as Dr. Pomatter (through April 7), Eddie Jemison as Ogie (reprising his performance from the 2007 film), Charity Angél Dawson as Becky, Benny Elledge as Cal, Larry Marshall as Joe, Lenne Klingaman as Dawn, and Ben Thompson as Earl.
Waitress celebrates its third anniversary at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre this spring. Since opening, the musical has embarked on a national tour and recently opened in London's West End with Smash alum Katharine McPhee as Jenna (having made her Broadway debut in the musical in 2018).
