Sheffield Theatres in the U.K. will present the world premiere of Life of Pi, a new stage adaptation of Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name. The adaptation is penned by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by Max Webster and will premiere next summer.

The Life of Pi will run June 28–July 20, 2019.

Based on the best-selling book, the story of endurance and hope follows a young man who is shipwrecked and must survive on a lifeboat with the company of a tiger. A film based on the book, adapted by Ang Lee, was released in 2012.

Sheffield Theatres' upcoming season will also feature Kate Bowen’s Close Quarters in a co-production with Out of Joint; the musical Kiss Me, Kate directed by Paul Foster; Caroline Steinbeis’ production of Rutherford and Son; debbie tucker green’s hang; the world premiere of Standing at the Sky’s Edge with book by Chris Bush and music and lyrics by Richard Hawley; and Third Angel’s The Department of Distractions in a co-production with Northern Stage.
