Sharon D. Clarke, currently Olivier Award-nominated for her acclaimed performance in the title role of Caroline, or Change, has been cast in the Kiln Theatre’s summer production of Blues in the Night. Directed by Susie McKenna, the staging will begin July 18 and continue through September 7. Opening night is scheduled for July 24.

Joining Clarke as The Lady will be Debbie Kurup (Girl From the North Country) as The Woman, Olivier winner Clive Rowe (Guys and Dolls) as The Man, and Gemma Sutton (Follies) as The Girl.

Conceived and originally directed by Sheldon Epps, the upcoming production marks the first major London revival of Blues in the Night in 30 years. The Olivier- and Tony-nominated musical is a compilation of 26 torch songs and blues numbers that frame the lives and loves of four residents of a downtown hotel. The production features songs by blues and jazz icons Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, and more.
