Grammy Award-winning Destiny’s Child singer Michelle T. Williams is set to return to Broadway beginning November 30 in the Tony-winning revival of Once On This Island at Circle in the Square Theatre.
Williams will step into the role of Erzulie, currently played by Darlesia Cearcy, through June 2, 2019.

Williams made her Broadway debut in the title role of Aida. She went on to appear in The Color Purple, where she portrayed blues singer Shug Avery, starred as Roxie Hart in the Broadway and West End productions of Chicago, the play What My Husband Doesn’t Know, a national tour of the musical Fela! in 2013, and a 2016 production of Aida at The Muny.
The new immersive production of Once On This Island, which was re-imagined by Tony-nominated director Michael Arden, officially opened December 3, 2017. The musical features a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, the Tony-winning writing team behind Ragtime and Anastasia.
The score has been rebuilt through the use of multi-layered vocal orchestrations, along with instruments made out of found objects, including trash bins and flexible piping. The new charts are the work of Once on This Island’s original orchestrator, Tony Award winner Michael Starobin, and vocal arranger AnnMarie Milazzo.
