Savion Glover, Kate Whoriskey, and Ken Rus Schmoll

Three artists will make their City Center directorial debuts this summer with Encores!’ 2018 Off-Center season, which kicks off June 27 with Songs for a New World.

Kate Whoriskey (Sweat) will direct the Jason Robert Brown song cycle, which runs through June 30. Thomas Murray will serve as music director.

The previously announced summer season continues with Steve Cosson and the late Michael Friedman’s Gone Missing (July 11–12), helmed by The Invisible Hand’s Ken Rus Schmoll. Rounding out the lineup is Micki Grant and Vinnette Carroll’s 1971 Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope (running July 25–28). Tony winner Savion Glover (Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk; Shuffle Along) will direct and choreograph, with Chris Fenwick musically directing.

Casting for all three productions will be announced at a later date.
