The world premiere of Coraline, an operatic adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s children’s novella, opened March 27 at London’s Barbican Theatre. The new piece, directed by Aletta Collins, hails from composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and librettist Rory Mullarkey.

The production is led by Mary Bevan and Robyn Allegra Parton, who alternate in the title role. Joining them on stage are Kitty Whately, Alexander Robin Baker, Gillian Keith, Frances McCafferty, Harry Nicoll, Dominic Sedgwuick, and the chamber ensemble Britten Sinfonia. Sian Edwards conducts.
Coraline features sets by Giles Cadle, costumes by Gabrielle Dalton, and lighting design by Matt Haskins.
