The Public Theater celebrated the official opening of Sarah Burgess’ Kings February 20, a funny new play about money, politics, and the cost of democracy. The world premiere, directed by Tony-winning Hamilton director Thomas Kail, stars House of Cards actor and Pulitzer-nominated playwright Eisa Davis and Community star Gillian Jacobs.
Kings began performances January 30 and has been extended through April 1.
Completing the cast are Aya Cash (You’re the Worst) and Tony nominee Zach Grenier (33 Variations).

In Kings, set in Washington, D.C., representative Sydney Millsap (Davis) goes head to head with lobbyist Kate (Jacobs) in a battle to defend the state of the American republic. Will Kate back the system or what she believes in?
