MCC Theater celebrated the official Off-Broadway opening of Jen Silverman’s play Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties September 12. The New York premiere is directed by Mike Donahue (The Legend of Georgia McBride) and stars Emmy winner Dana Delany, Obie winner Lea DeLaria, Indecent's Adina Verson, On Your Feet!'s Ana Villafañe, and Fifty Shades of Black's Chaunté Wayans.
In Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, five women—all named Bettie—collide at the intersection of rage, love, and the theatre, provoking them all to take a look in the mirror and be brave enough to face the person they didn’t know they could be.
Performances began August 16 in the Lucille Lortel Theatre, where the limited engagement is playing an extended run through October 7. Read reviews below.

Collective Rage is titled, in full, Collective Rage: A Play In 5 Betties; In Essence, A Queer And Occasionally Hazardous Exploration; Do You Remember When You Were In Middle School And You Read About Shackleton And How He Explored The Antarctic? Imagine The Antarctic As A Pussy And It’s Sort Of Like That.
The new comedy premiered in 2017 at Washington, D.C.’s Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. Silverman's other plays include All the Roads Home, The Moors, Phoebe in Winter, The Roommate, recently produced at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and Still, winner of the Yale Drama Series Award.
