The new jukebox musical Head Over Heels, featuring the music of the 1980's female rock superstars The Go-Go's, officially opened July 26 at the Hudson Theatre where previews began June 23.

Directed by Michael Mayer, Head Over Heels tells an updated take on Philip Sidney’s Arcadia, rife with dramatic irony, comical courtship, and mistaken identity. James Magruder is the writer of the Broadway adaptation, which is based on an original book written by Avenue Q Tony winner Jeff Whitty for the musical's 2015 premiere at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Head Over Heels includes 18 hits by The Go Go’s (Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine, Jane Wiedlin), including “We Got the Beat,” “Get Up and Go,” “Cool Jerk,” “Vacation,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Lust to Love,” “Head Over Heels,” as well as Carlisle’s solo hits “Mad About You” and “Heaven is a Place on Earth.”

The cast features Jeremy Kushnier (Paramour), Rachel York (Disaster!), Alexandra Socha (Spring Awakening), Peppermint (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Andrew Durand (Spring Awakening), Taylor Iman Jones (Groundhog Day), Bonnie Milligan (the national tour of Kinky Boots), and Tom Alan Robbins (The Lion King).

Peppermint, a beloved fixture of New York City's drag performance scene and the runner up of RuPaul’s Drag Race’s ninth season, is making her Broadway debut with the production.

She is also making history as the first performer who identifies as a trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway. It's a historic milestone for trans and non-binary artists, who have spoken out about under representation on stage and screen.

Rounding out the company are Amber Ardolino, Sharon Catherine Brown, Yurel Echezarreta, Lisa Finegold, Brian Flores, Ari Groover, Tanya Haglund, Arica Jackson, Gregory Liles, Gavin Lodge, Samantha Pollino, Justin Prescott, Tanner Ray Wilson, and Ricardo A. Zayas.

Musical supervision, orchestrations and arrangements are by Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Tom Kitt. Emmy nominee Spencer Liff is the show's choreographer.

The creative team also includes scenic and puppet designer Julian Crouch, costume designer Arianne Phillips, lighting designer Kevin Adams, sound designer Kai Harada, and projection designer Andrew Lazarow.

Gwyneth Paltow produces, having spearheaded a series of revisions and workshops following the 2015 world premiere at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Producing alongside her are Rick Ferrari, Donovan Leitch, Christine Russell, Louise Gund, Scott Sigman, Hunter Arnold, Tom Kirdahy, and Jordan Roth.
