Soho Rep. celebrated the world-premiere opening of Jackie Sibblies Drury's new play Fairview June 17. Through the style of a naturalistic family drama, the new work is an examination of race in America, as well as an investigation into the ways in which we watch and judge each other every day.

In Fairview, which began previews June 2 with direction by Artistic Director Sarah Benson, the Frasier family prepares for Grandma’s birthday—but not all is going according to plan, and things quickly go in unexpected directions.

MaYaa Boateng (The Village of Vale), Charles Browning (The Cost, The Capables), Roslyn Ruff (The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World), and Heather Alicia Simms (A Raisin in the Sun) play the Frasier family. Completing the cast are Hannah Cabell (As You Like It, Suzan-Lori Parks’ Venus at the Signature Theatre), Natalia Payne (The Last Match), Jed Resnick (Avenue Q), and Luke Robertson (feeling).

Fairview is scheduled to play at Soho Rep. (46 Walker Street, New York City) through July 8.

The creative team is made up of Raja Feather Kelly (choreographer), Tony Award winner Mimi Lien (scenic designer), Montana Levi Blanco (costume designer), Amith Chandrashaker (lighting designer), Mikaal Sulaiman (sound designer), J. David Brimmer (fight director), Ryan Courtney (props master), Garrett Allen (assistant director), Will Duty (production manager), Terri K. Kohler (production stage manager), and Mariah MacKenzie (assistant stage manager).
