The Public Theater celebrated the official opening of Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce NorrisThe Low Road, an ambitious new drama (in which 17 actors take on 50 roles) about the birth of capitalism in America, March 7. The U.S. premiere is directed Off-Broadway by Dear Evan Hansen's Michael Greif.

Set in the 18th century, The Low Road imagines America’s first laissez-faire capitalist, played by Looking's Chris Perfetti.

Completing the cast are Tony winner Harriet Harris, three-time Tony nominee Kevin Chamberlin, Tessa Albertson, Max Baker, Daniel Davis, Crystal A. Dickinson, Gopal Divan, Jack Hatcher, Josh Henderson, Chukwudi Iwuji, Johnny Newcomb, Susannah Perkins, Richard Poe, Dave Quay, Aaron Michael Ray, Joseph Soeder, and Danny Wolohan.

Norris’ plays include A Parallelogram, which recently played Off-Broadway, as well as Clybourne Park, The Qualms, The Unmentionables, The Pain and the Itch, and Purple Heart.

The Low Road features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Matt Tierney, wig, hair, and make-up design by design J. Jared Janas and Dave Bova, and music composition by Mark Bennett.
