International News Pretty Woman Musical to Incorporate Roy Orbison Hit The 1964 single “Oh, Pretty Woman” became synonymous with the 1990 Richard Gere-Julia Roberts film.

“Oh, Pretty Woman,” the 1964 Roy Orbison single that became synonymous with the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman, has been incorporated into the Broadway musical adaptation, currently running at the Nederlander Theatre.

Performed during the show’s curtain call, the rock classic will also be heard in all future productions of Pretty Woman, which is slated to open in Hamburg, London, and in a U.S. national tour next year.

Written by Orbison and Bill Dees, the song celebrates its 55th anniversary this year, having sold over seven million copies. The song enjoyed a resurgence in the 1990s when it was featured on the soundtrack to the Garry Marshall film.

Stars have also been named for the show's upcoming Hamburg premiere, with Patricia Meeden (Sister Act) to play Vivian and Mark Seibert (Dance of the Vampires) as Edward. Performances begin September 23 at Stage Theater an der Elbe .

The stage musical features a book co-written by the late Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton, and music by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.
