Love Never Dies, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to Broadway’s longest-running show The Phantom of the Opera, has announced the first of the stops on its planned 2017–2018 North American tour.
The tour, which was originally reported on Playbill.com in September 2015, has announced two stops so far, at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles April 3–22, 2018, and at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle May 8-13, 2018.
The production will be one of the chief attractions of the newly announced Pantages 2017–2018 subscription season, which will also includes recent Broadway productions School of Rock—The Musical (May 3–27, 2018), The Color Purple (May 29–June 17, 2018), On Your Feet! (July 6–29, 2018), and Waitress (Aug. 2–26, 2018).

The national tour of Hamilton was previously announced to play the Pantages Aug. 11–Dec. 20, but is not part of the subscription season.

The story of Love Never Dies continues ten years after the conclusion of The Phantom of the Opera. It follows soprano Christine Daaé to New York's Coney Island, where she is invited to perform for the mysterious Mr. Y. After Christine, her now-husband Raoul and their young son Gustav arrive in New York City, familiar characters begin to emerge, including one with whom Christine shares a dark secret.
The musical failed to find an audience in its 2010 London bow, which had been directed by Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, and ran only 17 months. The show did somewhat better in a 2011 Australian production directed by Simon Phillips. A planned Broadway production never came to fruition. Productions have been staged in Japan, Germany, Austria and Denmark. Phillips will repeat as director for the North American tour.
The musical has lyrics by Glenn Slater (Sister Act) and a book by Slater, Ben Elton (The Beautiful Game, We Will Rock You), and Frederick Forsyth. Producers released a concept album, an original London cast album, an Asian edition, and a DVD of the Australian production.
