Alex Newell, currently starring as Asaka in Once On This Island, hosts this year’s free outdoor Stars in the Alley concert June 1 at 1 PM in Shubert Alley, between Broadway and 8th Avenue and 44th and 45th Streets.

Alex Boniello, currently starring as Connor Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen, serves as backstage correspondent, covering the event live on The Broadway League’s Twitter and Instagram.

The free outdoor concert, which celebrates the end of the 2017–2018 Broadway season, features performances from new and long-running shows.

The celebration includes performances and appearances by Waitress’ Katharine McPhee, upcoming Beautiful star Melissa Benoist, and Tyler Glenn, currently starring as Charlie Price in Kinky Boots. Others scheduled to appear include Anthony Boyle (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Joshua Henry (Carousel), Hailey Kilgore (Once On This Island), Taylor Louderman (Mean Girls), and Ari’el Stachel (The Band’s Visit).

Additional participating shows include include Aladdin, Anastasia, Chicago, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Escape to Margaritaville, Frozen, Kinky Boots, The Phantom of the Opera, School of Rock The Musical, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, and Wicked. Attendees can also expect appearances from the casts of Angels in America, The Play That Goes Wrong, and Saint Joan.

“Celebrating the end of the season with Stars in the Alley is always one of the highlights of the year! This free concert has something for everyone covering all genres and offering new music, old favorites with a lot more to discover!” said President of the Broadway League Charlotte St. Martin in an earlier statement. “Stars in the Alley is an opportunity to sample the very best of live theatrical entertainment featuring the most talented performers in the city and celebrate the wonderful productions that are now on Broadway.”

The concert comes just nine days before the American Theatre Wing’s 72nd Annual Tony Awards, airing June 10 on CBS.
