The Geffen Playhouse has announced several additions to its 2018–2019 season, the first under new Artistic Director Matt Shakman.
Jefferson Mays, who won Tony Awards for A Gentleman’s Guide for Love & Murder and the Pulitzer Prize-winning solo play I Am My Own Wife, has written a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, in which he will also star.
Tony Award nominated Once On This Island director Michael Arden will helm Mays’ “wildly theatrical” treatment for the holiday ghost story that promises fresh perspectives on Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and Tiny Tim. A Christmas Carol will run October 30–December 2.
