The Off-Broadway production of The Government Inspector, starring Michael Urie, will transfer to New World Stages. Performances at The Duke on 42nd Street will end June 24, and the production will resume at the new venue for a limited engagement July 5–August 20.
The play, adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from Nikolai Gogol’s Russian satire Revizor, began performances May 16. Jesse Berger directs.

In addition to Urie, the cast features Tony nominee Mary Testa, Arnie Burton, Stephen DeRosa, and Tony winner Michael McGrath. Rounding out the company are Ryan Garbayo, Kelly Hutchinson, Ben Mehl, Talene Monahon, Luis Moreno, James Rana, Tom Alan Robbins, Mary Lou Rosato, and William Youmans (who replaces David Manis).
The play follows a corrupt leader of a small village who throws the town into a web of bribery, lies, and madness in order to keep an undercover inspector at bay.
The creative team includes set designer Alexis Distler, costume designer Tilly Grimes, lighting designers Peter West and Megan Lang, and sound designer Greg Pliska, who has also composed original music for the production.
