October Sky, the coming-of-age musical about rockets and big dreams, is based on the 1999 Universal Pictures film of the same name and the book Rocket Boys. The musical premiered at The Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Illinois, in 2015 and received its West Coast premiere at San Diego's Old Globe last September.

October Sky follows a teenage boy living in a small, coal-mining town who is determined to not end up like the generations before him. With his friends, they build homemade rockets in an attempt to aspire to something greater.

The developmental lab is directed and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell (Ride The Cyclone). October Sky features a book by Brian Hill (The Story of My Life) and Aaron Thielen (Hero), music and lyrics by Michael Mahler (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid), music direction by Charlie Alterman, and casting by Tara Rubin Casting. Richards/Climan, Inc. serves as general manager.

The show is being produced by Universal Stage Productions, a division of Universal Theatrical Group.
