Nina Raine’s Consent, which played a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at The National Theatre last spring, will transfer to the West End for a 12-week run at the Harold Pinter Theatre beginning May 18. The play was among the finalists for the 2017–2018 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize; it tells the story of two friends who take opposing briefs in a rape case.

Roger Michell will direct the limited engagement, which will open May 29.

The cast of the West End transfer will include Claudie Blakley (Once in a Lifetime), Stephen Campbell Moore (Photograph 51), Adam James (Girl from the North Country), and Heather Craney, the latter reprising her role from the world premiere. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

Consent will feature scenic design by Hildegard Bechtler, costumes by Dinah Collin, lighting by Rick Fisher, music by Kate Whitley, sound by John Leonard, and casting by Amy Ball CDG.

Raine’s other plays include Tiger Country, Rabbit, and Tribes, as well as an adaptation of The Drunks by the Durnenkov Brothers. Tribes won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Foreign Play, and the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Play.

Consent was originally co-produced and commissioned by Out of Joint. The West End run will be co-presented by Sonia Friedman Productions and the National Theatre.
