The stage musical adaptation of the 1982 film Tootsie, featuring a score by Tony nominee David Yazbek (The Band’s Visit, The Full Monty) and a book by Robert Horn (13), will receive a New York City industry presentation June 8, Playbill.com has confirmed.

Scott Ellis, the Tony-nominated director of Roundabout’s She Loves Me, has joined the production, replacing Tony Award-winning director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw.

Tony nominee Santino Fontana (Cinderella, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) is attached to the project, taking on the starring role of Michael Dorsey, an out-of-work actor who ends up landing jobs after he disguises himself as “Dorothy Michaels.”

Tootsie is among the projects shepherded by Broadway producers Scott Sanders and Carole Fineman for Westfield Productions.
