The National

Grammy-winning indie rock band The National is at work with Erica Schmidt (writer and director of Off-Broadway’s All the Fine Boys) on a new musical adaptation of Cyrano, which will debut as part of Goodspeed’s summer season. The 2018 slate also includes Bartram and Hill’s musical You Are Here in the spring, and a return of A Connecticut Christmas Carol in time for the holidays.

All shows will play in Goodspeed’s Terris Theatre in Connecticut.

Kicking off the Goodspeed season May 18 will be You Are Here from The Story of My Life duo Neil Bartram and Brian Hill. Set in 1969, the musical follows the life-changing journey of Chicago housewife Diana when she decides to walk out of her suburban life. The musical will be directed by Sarna Lapine, who helmed the recent Broadway revival of Sunday in the Park with George. Performances will run through June 10.

The new musical adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, Edmond Rostand’s romantic tale of mistaken identity and buried desire, will play August 3–September 2. Adapted by Schmidt, Cyrano will feature music by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National with lyrics by Matt Berninger of The National and Carin Besser. Schmidt will direct.

A Connecticut Christmas Carol, a musical adaptation of the Dickens holiday classic, will play November 30–December 30. The musical features a book by L J Fecho and music and lyrics by Michael O’Flaherty. Hunter Foster will direct.

Advance season ticket packages will be available starting February 26 through the Box Office by calling (860) 873-8668. Single tickets go on public sale March 26.
