After winning six Tony Awards including Best Play, Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will release over 100,000 tickets at all price points (starting at $40) for performances over the next several months.
The new batch of tickets for performances through June 9, 2019, will be made available beginning September 27 at 11 AM. Hopeful ticketholders can join a virtual waiting room at HarryPotterThePlay.com beginning at 10:30 AM the day of the release. At 11 AM, those in the waiting room will be randomly assigned a queue number to purchase tickets. Unlike the previous Ticketmaster Verified Fan releases, no access code will be required.
The two-part play, written by Jack Thorne (who created the story with J. K. Rowling and director John Tiffany), picks up at the start of the seventh novel’s epilogue, in which Harry Potter’s youngest son Albus sets off for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While struggling to follow in the footsteps of his father's legacy, Albus begins a complicated mission to live up to the Potter name.
The Broadway production officially opened at the newly renovated Lyric Theatre April 22 after a world premiere in London’s West End. Subsequent stagings are set to play Melbourne, San Francisco, and Hamburg.
