Film & TV News NBC Renews Tina Fey Sitcom Great News, Starring Andrea Martin The show follows Martin as an intern at the TV station where her daughter works.

Great News, the new NBC sitcom that follows an ambitious 30-something news producer (Briga Heelan) whose job gets complicated when her mother (Tony winner Andrea Martin) lands an internship on her show, has been picked up for a second season, according to Variety.

Executive-produced by 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and created by Tracey Wigfield, Great News premiered April 25.

NBC has been rolling out two episodes per week since the show’s launch, with six episodes already having aired. Season one will conclude May 23.

Season two of Great News, expected to return in 2018, will consist of 13 episodes.

The cast also features Adam Campbell, Nicole Richie, Horatio Sanz, and John Michael Higgins.

A Tony winner for My Favorite Year and the 2013 revival of Pippin, Martin also earned nominations for Candide, Oklahoma!, Young Frankenstein, and Noises Off. She is also well-known for her screen appearances, including her portrayal of Aunt Voula in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
