Lionsgate and producer Scott Delman will team up to develop a stage adaptation of the country music series Nashville, featuring a new score. Delman, currently represented on Broadway with Network, The Ferryman, Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon, acquired the live theatrical rights and will serve as lead producer.

The show, according to Delman, will feature an "entirely original score" penned by both Broadway composers and country music stars (to be announced) "With its complex, relatable characters and sweeping emotional gestures, [Nashville] has all of the narrative elements that I look for in great theatrical source material," he said in a statement. "From that rich DNA, we will be building an original story."

No word yet on additional details, including casting, creative team, or a production timeline.

Nashville, about a group of country music stars navigating romance, family, and their careers, premiered on ABC in 2012 before heading to CMT and Hulu for its final two seasons. The cast included Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, and Sam Palladio, with frequent appearances by such Broadway alums as Will Chase, Tony winner Laura Benanti, and Kyle Dean Massey.
