Obie-winning playwright and MacArthur fellow Naomi Wallace is set to debut her 1993 play The War Boys in New York. The psychological drama, which takes place on the Texan-Mexican border, will have its Off-Broadway premiere beginning March 21 with direction by James Will McBride.

The four-week limited engagement will be at Access Theater, located at 380 Broadway, with an opening night set for March 25.

The War Boys has been staged in Chicago and London and was adapted into a 2009 film. The story follows three young Texan men patrolling the border with Mexico as they wait for people to cross into the U.S. illegally. Though written over 20 years ago, the play is a study of the sexism, racism, and xenophobia still present in America today.

The production will star Wyatt Joseph Fenner, Sea McHale, and Gabriel Sloyer.

The War Boys is produced Off-Broadway by Joshua Morgan. Tickets are $25 general admission and can be purchased by visiting thewarboysnyc.com.
