Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical, which made its Off-Broadway premiere in 2014 and has its sights on a Broadway transfer, will offer a special performance at RuPaul’s DragCon September 10. The look at the disco musical will take place at noon at the Javits Convention Center.

Set to take the stage are Anthony Wayne, who co-wrote the show and stars as the title singer, as well as Jacqueline B. Arnold as Martha Wash and Anastacia McCleskey as Izora Armstead.

Mighty Real began as a series of concerts in 2012 prior to performances in Washington, D.C., and Miami. It played Off-Broadway’s Theatre at St. Clement’s in September 2014 and went on to play San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. Wayne wrote the biomusical celebration alongside Kendrell Bowman, who also directed. It is produced by AnthonyKen LLC and Sheryl Lee Ralph’s The DIVA Foundation.

The title song, “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real),” was incidentally used as a “Lip Sync for Your Life” song in the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. It marks the only time contestants were asked to lip sync to a male artist during the elimination showdown (apart from RuPaul herself).

Ralph will also be in attendance at RuPaul’s DragCon, presented by World of Wonder. The Dreamgirls Tony nominee and recent Wicked star will participate in a panel titled “Glitter and Be Gay: Broadway Queens” alongside fellow Broadway alum J. Elaine Marcos and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants Ginger Minj and Alexis Michelle.
