Cabaret & Concert News Michael McElroy and Aisha De Hass Will Sing Jazz Versions of Broadway Favorites at Green Room 42 In Transit composer Russ Kaplan plans Broadway Jazz Session July 9.

Russ Kaplan, one of the composers of the Broadway musical In Transit, hosts the next in his monthly series Russ Kaplan’s Broadway Jazz Session July 9 with a concert consisting of jazz versions of Broadway show tunes performed by rising young stars.

Guest singers for the July 9 installment will include Broadway’s Michael McElroy (Sunday in the Park with George; Big River; Rent) and Aisha De Haas (Caroline, or Change; Rent). Kaplan and his eight-piece band will offer instrumental interpretations of tunes from the current Broadway season—from new shows (Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton) to veterans (Chicago, Hello, Dolly!).

McElroy was nominated for a 2004 Tony Award for his performance as Jim in Big River. De Haas appeared in Rent; Caroline, or Change; and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, among other Broadway shows. In Transit was nominated for Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle, Drama League, and Lortel awards.
