Hall and Butler recently teamed up for a staged reading of Eno's play Gnit, a unique take on Henrik Ibsen’s five-act, 40-scene play Peer Gynt, which took place at Theatre for a New Audience in June.

Hall was most recently seen Off-Broadway in the New York Theatre Workshop production of Lazarus by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. He previously portrayed the title character in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and also starred in Eno’s The Realistic Joneses on Broadway. His other Off-Broadway credits include Mr. Marmalade, Cymbeline, Macbeth, Timon of Athens, Henry V, and The English Teachers. His film and television credits include Dexter, Six Feet Under, and Game Night.

Thom Pain (based on nothing) will run October 23–November 25 on The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center. Opening night will be November 11.

In Eno's acclaimed 2004 solo play, a man named Thom Pain desperately, and hilariously, tries to save his own life—or at least make it into something worth dying for.

The revival is the first Legacy production since Eno completed his five-year residency at the Signature. His time at the Off-Broadway theatre included productions of his play Title and Deed and the world premieres of The Open House and Wakey, Wakey.

After debuting in London, Thom Pain (based on nothing) premiered Off-Broadway in 2005 starring James Urbaniak, with direction by Hal Brooks.

The creative team for the Signature revival will be announced at a later time, and tickets will go on sale on September 13.
