Tony Award nominee Melissa Errico will celebrate Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim June 3 at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York with a concert of songs from his shows in which she has appeared during her career.

It will follow her May 2 appearance in a concert of tunes by Jerry Herman, Alan Menken, and Sondheim at Lincoln Center’s Spring Gala at Alice Tully Hall in New York.

Melissa Errico Sings Sondheim will feature “Not While I’m Around” from Sweeney Todd, “Getting Married Today” from Company, “Send in the Clowns” from A Little Night Music, plus numbers drawn from Gypsy, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Anyone Can Whistle, and other shows.

Errico told Playbill, “I can’t get enough of Sondheim. I feel so much respect. It fascinates me. I like to do his music straight from the shows, from the perspective of the characters and their circumstances, and sometimes—only gingerly—I like to rearrange the songs, play around with them musically.... I think I just love his music and maybe equally, maybe more, his words. He makes me think, and sing. Think and sing. Or is it sing, then think, then feel? The answer is there somewhere.”

Errico’s history with Sondheim began when he selected her to star as Dot/Marie in Sunday in the Park With George at the Kennedy Center's Sondheim Celebration. She has gone on to perform many tribute concerts for Sondheim at such New York venues as Avery Fisher Music Hall and Symphony Space. Errico earned a Drama Desk Award nomination when she costarred as Clara opposite Judy Kuhn in Passion at Off-Broadway’s Classic Stage Company. Errico also tackled one of Sondheim’s most controversial and conflicted heroines, Leona in Do I Hear A Waltz?, for the Encores! series at City Center.

She earned her Tony nomination in 2003 as Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Amour.

Errico was a special guest performer on Playbill’s February 2017 Broadway on the High Seas cruise to the Caribbean. Playbill’s inaugural river cruise along the Rhône River in May 2017 is sold out, but cabins are available for the Rhine River cruise in August 2017, featuring Seth Rudetsky, Andréa Burns, Faith Prince, Terrence Mann, Charlotte d’Amboise, and Santino Fontana. Playbill Travel is now also booking Broadway on the Danube River for November 2017, with celebrity guests to be announced. Visit PlaybillTravel.com for booking and information.

Tickets cost $40–$80 and can be ordered online at 54Below.com or by phone at (646) 476-3551.
