Mean Girls is heading to Broadway in the spring following a world-premiere run at the National Theater in Washington this fall. The new musical comedy from Tina Fey and husband Jeff Richmond is set to begin previews March 12, 2018, and open April 8 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre.
The musical features a book by Emmy winner Fey (who wrote the screenplay and appeared in the original 2004 film), music by Richmond, and lyrics by Tony nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.
Tickets to the Broadway engagement will go on sale to the general public October 3—a popular date for fans of the film. American Express pre-sale begins September 10.
