On August 14 and 15, Jennifer Blood will present a benefit reading of Rachel Kauder Nalebuff’s The Bumps at 22 Boerum Place in Brooklyn, New York.

Directed by Deena Selenow, the show earned an honorable mention from the Kilroys in 2016 (alongside current Off-Broadway plays Cost of Living and Napoli, Brooklyn). The Kilroys List is a result of an industry survey of unproduced new plays by female and trans playwrights as a tool for producers to use in hopes of increasing representation for these groups.

Onstage The Bumps follows three pregnant strangers who meet in a waiting room and the subsequent story of their daughters a generation later. Backstage, The Bumps revamps the rehearsal, production, and performance process to cater to the needs of pregnant actors and their families.

In addition to Blood, who played Miss Honey in the Broadway production of Matilda The Musical, the cast also features Taifa Harris, Jessica Luck, Eric Clem, and Cotton Wright. The event will benefit Planned Parenthood.

The Bumps was first staged at The Skirball Cultural Center’s Performance Lab Festival earlier this year.
