Cabaret & Concert News Mary Testa and Tovah Feldshuh Reuniting for Hello Muddah Concert The 1992 musical celebrated the song parodies of Allan Sherman.

Mary Testa, Tovah Feldshuh, and other members of the original Off-Broadway cast of the musical Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah! are heading back to Camp Granada July 24 for a 25th anniversary reunion concert version of the show at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York.

They will be joined by other original cast members Paul Kreppel, (who is organizing the event), Steven Berger, and Jason Graae.

The show, which celebrates the song parodies of Allan Sherman (1924-1973), is named for his novelty hit, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100 chart in 1963. It took Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours and added lyrics in the form of a homesick kid writing a letter to his parents from summer camp. Sherman and his co-writer Lou Busch influenced later song parodists including Weird Al Yankovic and Gerard Alessandrini (Forbidden Broadway).

The reunion concert will give two performances, 7 and 9 :30 PM. David Evans is musical director. Click here to order tickets.

Conceived and written by Rob Krausz and Douglas Bernstein, the 1992 revue followed a couple, Barry Brockman and Sarah Jackman (played by Graae and Testa), from childhood to retirement. Along the way they sing Sherman parodies including "Harvey and Sheila" (to the melody of “Hava Nagila" and “Glory, Glory Harry Lewis” (to “Battle Hymn of the Republic”).

Testa is currently in rehearsal for an Off-Broadway revival of The Government Inspector, which starts previews May 16 at Red Bull Theatre. She told Playbill that she is also scheduled to appear in the world premiere of a new show, The Raging Skillet, which begins performances July 20 at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut.
