Marisa Tomei will return to the role of Serafina in a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' Rose Tattoo from Roundabout Theatre Company this fall. The Oscar-winning actor first played the role of the widow in a 2016 Williamstown Theater Festival production.

Trip Cullman (Choir Boy), who helmed the WTF production, will direct the Roundabout revival at the American Airlines Theatre. Performances will begin September 19 ahead of an October 15 opening.

The remaining cast members and design team for the limited engagement will be announced soon. The run is scheduled through December 8.

Williams’ The Rose Tattoo, which won the Tony for Best Play in 1951, is the story of a widow who rekindles her desire for love, lust, and life in the arms of a new suitor in sultry New Orleans. Following its Tony-winning Broadway premiere, the play was subsequently seen on Broadway in 1966 and 1995.

Tomei was last on Broadway in Will Eno's Realistic Joneses in 2014 and Off-Broadway in the 2017 Lincoln Center Theater production of Sarah Ruhl's How to Transcend a Happy Marriage. Other Broadway credits include Caryl Churchill's Top Girls, Oscar Wilde's Salome, and Frederick Knott's Wait Until Dark. She is an Academy Award winner for the 1992 film My Cousin Vinny.

With The Rose Tattoo, Roundabout continues its history of producing Williams’ work, following productions of Summer and Smoke (1975 and 1996), The Night of the Iguana (1996), The Glass Menagerie (1994 and 2010), A Streetcar Named Desire (2005), Suddenly Last Summer (2006), and The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore (2011).
