The Guthrie Theater has announced seven of the eight productions that will comprise the Minneapolis company’s 2018–2019 season.

The new season kicks off September 15 with Playing With Fire, Minnesota playwright Barbara Field’s Guthrie-commisioned adaptation of Frankenstein that first toured the U.S. in 1988. Performances will run through October 27.

Additional highlights include Mary Zimmerman reprising her Tony-winning direction on her play Metamorphoses (April 13–May 19, 2019), a summer production of Guys and Dolls (June 22–August 25), and the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage’s Floyd’s (July 27–August 25).

Kate Whoriskey, who helmed Nottage’s play Sweat, collaborates with the playwright once more. The play was first announced in April last year and, like Sweat, will take place in Reading, Pennsylvania; one character from the earlier play will return in the companion piece.

Rounding out the season are Noises Off (October 27–December 16), A Christmas Carol (November 13–December 29), Lauren Yee’s The Great Leap (January 12–February 10, 2019), a Shakespeare production to be announced (February 9–March 17), and Cyrano de Bergerac (March 16–May 5).

Cast and creative teams will be announced at a later date.
