Savvy Waitress fans may have speculated Jones' casting after promotional materials for the musical, featuring the singer in Jenna's signature uniform, began to pop up around New York City in February. No announcement had been made regarding her casting, and the advertisements did not mentions Jones by name. She has also been spotted with Waitress composer Sara Bareilles at shows around the city.

Months later, Jones took center stage as Jenna in an unannounced vacation cover engagement during McPhee's scheduled absence.

After a breakout performance on series six of the U.K.'s The X Factor in 2009, Jones went on to appear on the U.K. stage in such shows as Les Misérables, We Will Rock You, American Psycho, Legally Blonde, Rent, and The Wedding Singer. She represented the U.K in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 with the song "Never Give Up On You."

Roberts, best known as a member of The Pussycat Dolls, was a 2018 Strictly Come Dancing finalist.
