24th Street Theatre has announced its 20th Anniversary Season, including 2011 LA Weekly's Production of the Year recipient La Razón Blindada (Armored Reason).

The production kicks off the season September 9 and will star original actors Jesús Castaños-Chima and Tony Duran. The political drama, written and directed by Argentine playwright Arístides Vargas, explores the lives of two political prisoners who can only interact with one another for one hour per week. The show will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles and will close October 15.

On November 2—the last day of Dia de los Muertos—Latin surf rock band The Space Sanchos will headline the theatre’s annual, free block party.

Additional productions for the upcoming season include a limited engagement of Pang!, which showcases live radio plays based on the life stories of three families living with hunger. The show, presented by award-winning performance artist Dan Froot and Company, will run December 2–3.

From December 14–17 24th Street Theatre will present La Víspera (The Eve). The holiday play about love and sacrifice created from true stories shared by members of the local University Park immigrant community. The show will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles.

Performances of the world premiere of ICE will run March 10 to April 29 at the Los Angeles venue. The bilingual show, written by Leon Martell and directed by Debbie Devine, follows two men who arrive in the U.S. with zero documentation. The musical takes audiences on a journey in search of what it means to be “American.”
