A constellation of young Broadway stars will pay tribute to the songbook of Rihanna March 26 at 8 PM as part of the Broadway Sings concert series at the Highline Ballroom in New York City.
Also featured in the lineup will be Kathryn Gallagher (Spring Awakening), Joanna A. Jones (Hamilton), Christina Sajous (American Idiot), Felicia Boswell (Memphis), Alexa Green (Wicked), Lulu Fall (The Great Comet), Anastacia McCleskey (Waitress), Bryonha Marie Parham (Prince of Broadway), Hannah Shankman (Wicked), and Raena White (The Lion King), with others to be announced in the coming weeks.
The singers will be backed by a 14-piece orchestra playing Joshua Stephen Kartes’ custom new arrangements of the Barbados-born Rihanna’s repertoire, including “Diamonds,” “Umbrella,” “Shut Up and Drive,” and “Disturbia.”
Rihanna is one of the best-selling artists of all time. She is the youngest and fastest artist to have 14 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, which earned her the title of the top Hot 100 artist of the 2010’s decade so far. She has won eight Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, and 12 American Music Awards, as well as the latter’s Icon Award in 2013. She was named the most powerful celebrity of 2012 by Forbes magazine.
