Performances begin April 18 for the New York Theatre Workshop production of Light Shining In Buckinghamshire by celebrated British playwright Caryl Churchill. Set in 1647 England, the play follows a number of revolutionaries dreaming of a new era and looks at themes of power, politics, and revolution.

Great Comet director Rachel Chavkin, who returns to NYTW following her acclaimed production of Hadestown, directs a cast made up of Vinie Burrows (Walk Together Children), Rob Campbell (All the Way), Matthew Jeffers (The Mysteries), Mikéah Ernest Jennings (MASTER), Gregg Mozgala (Cost of Living), and Evelyn Spahr (The Post).

Light Shining In Buckinghamshire will officially open May 7.

The production features scenic design by Riccardo Hernández (Indecent), costume design by Toni-Leslie James (Amazing Grace), lighting design by Isabella Byrd (Sundown, Yellow Moon), sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman (The Rape of the Sabine Women), properties by Noah Mease (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), original music and music direction by Orion Johnstone ({my lingerie play}: The Concert and Call to Arms!!!!!!!!!), and stage management by Jhanaë Bonnick (That Bachelorette Show).

Light Shining In Buckinghamshire received an acclaimed revival at London's National Theatre in 2015. Churchill’s plays include Top Girls, Serious Money, Cloud 9, Fen, Love and Information, and Far Way, among many others.
