Kristin Chenoweth Reveals She May Star in Soapdish in the West End | Playbill

International News Kristin Chenoweth Reveals She May Star in Soapdish in the West End The Tony winner shared on Watch What Happens Live that the rumors are possibly true.

During Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a savvy caller asked Tony- and Emmy-winning actor Kristin Chenoweth if the rumors are true that she will headline the West End musical adaptation of Soapdish.

“The rumors are possibly true,” Chenoweth demured, with a tellingly transparent poker face.

In 2012, Chenoweth took part in a reading of the musical alongside fellow Tony winner and TV favorite Jane Krakowski. The presentation, which featured a score by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, was directed by Rob Ashford and also starred John Stamos, Cristin Milioti, Michael Park, Miriam Shor, and Adrienne Warren.

The 1991 film by Robert Harling and Andrew Bergman tells the backstage drama of a soap opera and starred Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey, Jr., Elisabeth Shue, Whoopi Goldberg, Teri Hatcher, Cathy Moriarty, Garry Marshall, Kathy Najimy, and the late Carrie Fisher. Chenoweth did confirm that Harling wrote the book to the musical adaptation. Chenoweth expressed her love for the part of Celeste (the role Field played in the movie).

Of course, Cohen couldn’t let Chenoweth leave without playing a few games. Watch Chenoweth play Match That Pitch:

Chenoweth also spoke about her Bravo crushes:

Chenoweth can soon be seen on the Starz series American Gods—a new series from her Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller—as the goddess Easter.
