Los Angeles News Kelsey Grammer Will Star in Candide at L.A. Opera Francesca Zambello will direct Leonard Bernstein’s classic.

Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer, last seen on Broadway in Finding Neverland, will star as Voltaire/Dr. Pangloss in the L.A. Opera staging of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide, which will play six performances from January 27 to February 18, 2018, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Francesca Zambello will direct the production that also stars Jack Swanson in the title role and Erin Morley as Cunegonde. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The production marks L.A. Opera’s company premiere of Candide. Based on Voltaire’s satirical novel, the musical premiered on Broadway in 1956.
