Off-Broadway News Keegan-Michael Key Says Audience Member Tried to Charge Their Phone During Hamlet The actor chats audience shenanigans at The Public Theater’s Hamlet, starring Oscar Isaac.

Keegan-Michael Key, who currently stars as Horatio in the Sam Gold-helmed Hamlet at The Public Theater, visited Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to talk about the production (and some of the unruly audience members he and the cast have encountered). One theatregoer, Key explained, attempted to charge her phone onstage during the intermission.

After a 19-year career in sketch comedy, Key is making the move to more dramatic theatre acting. Following his turn in Hamlet, alongside Oscar Isaac, the actor will make his Broadway debut co-starring with Amy Schumer and Laura Benanti in Steve Martin’s Meteor Shower this fall. The production will open at the Booth Theatre November 29.

Hamlet continues at the Public Theater through September 3. Key can also be seen on the new Netflix comedy series Friend from College.
