The Off-Broadway premiere of Kate Benson’s [Porto]—a collaboration from WP Theater, The Bushwick Starr, and New Georges—has assembled its cast. Julia Sirna-Frest will return to the title role from the play’s acclaimed world premiere at the Starr in January.

The production will begin performances January 28, 2018 at WP Theater ahead of a February 6 opening night. Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans (Bull in a China Shop, Caught) directs.

[Porto] was initially produced Off-Off-Broadway by WP Lab alum Rachel Karpf, John Del Gaudio, and The Bushwick Starr, where it was named a New York Times Critics’ Pick.

Original cast members Noel Joseph Allain (Luft Gangster, Queerspawn), playwright Benson, Ugo Chukwu (Ripcord, JOB), Jorge Cordova (Moment of Zen, Hillary), Leah Karpel (The Harvest, Pocatello) and Sirna-Frest will also return to the play for its Off-Broadway bow.

In [Porto], a woman walks into a bar in a gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood. When a handsome stranger walks in, an upside-down romantic comedy unfolds inside and outside of her imagination, causing desires to awaken and disruption to ensue.

The limited Off-Broadway engagement is scheduled through February 25.

Tickets are now on sale via WPtheater.org or by calling (212) 765-1706.
