Pocket Universe is set to stage the New York premiere of a new, all-female production of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, set at an all-girls high school. Conceived by Alyssa May Gold with direction by Katie Young, the Off-Broadway engagement will play the Access Theater Gallery Space.
Performances are set to run June 21–July 8 with an opening night scheduled for June 23.
The bard’s epic tale of jealousy and betrayal is given a contemporary twist in an all-girls high school, where a group of power-hungry teenagers engage in an unforgiving game of psychological warfare. Six female actors will play all the roles in Gold’s Julius Caesar, with casting to be announced at a later date.
