Broadway alums Julia Murney and Rachel York will headline readings of the murder-mystery musical The Betrayal of Nora Blake. The industry presentations will be held at Shetler Studios Penthouse September 25 at 4 PM and September 26 at 3 PM.
Carl Andress (The Divine Sister) will direct John Meyer’s satiric sendup of film noir.
Murney and York will star as battling twins Nora and Laura Blake. They will be joined by Tom Hewitt, Chris Hoch, Lenny Wolpe, Marcy McGuigan, and Michael Marotta.
The Betrayal of Nora Blake played an extended sold-out run at London’s Jermyn Street Theater followed by its American premiere at the Cuillo Centre for the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Murney last appeared on Broadway as Elphaba in Wicked after playing the role in the national tour. Other New York credits include Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party (Drama Desk nomination), Falling (Drama Desk nomination), The Vagina Monologues, Lennon, A Class Act, Crimes of the Heart, and Time and Again (Lucille Lortel nomination). She recently took on the role of Madame Rose in Gypsy at Cape Playhouse in Massachusetts.
York won the Drama Desk for Outstanding Featured Actress as Norma Cassidy in Victor/Victoria and was nominated for roles in Dessa Rose and the Sondheim revue Putting It Together. Most recently, she starred as Jackie in the 2016 Broadway production of Disaster!
