Hirsch, who won a Tony for his performance as the world-class kibitzer in the original 1985 Broadway staging, will again step into the Tony-winning play June 21–July 14. Casting for the role of Midge Carter, the part created by Cleavon Little, will be announced at a later time. (Hirsch also starred in the 2002 Broadway revival opposite Ben Vereen.)

The Festival season will also include Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew (July 19–August 4), Kate Hamill's Pride and Prejudice, adapted from the novel by Jane Austen (August 9–25), Holland Taylor’s Ann, starring Jayne Atkinson (August 29–September 1), and Pipeline Series: Four New Works in Process (June 26, July 10, July 31, and August 12).

All performances take place at the Dorset Playhouse (104 Cheney Road, Dorset, Vermont).

"Last year was such a fantastic season for us, and I’m so excited that enthusiasm for the Festival is continuing to grow,” said Producing Director Will Rucker in a statement. “The 2018 season is proof that Dorset, Vermont is a destination not only for our audiences but for today’s top theatrical talent.”
