Cast Recordings & Albums ‘Journey to the Past’ Duet With Anastasia Stars Christy Altomare and Liz Callaway Released September 28 Anastasia composer Stephen Flaherty accompanies the original stage and screen stars in a music video released in conjunction with the new single.

The new duet arrangement of the Oscar-nominated anthem “Journey to the Past,” featuring stage and screen Anastasia stars Christy Altomare and Liz Callaway, is now available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon and for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

The September 28 release is accompanied by a special music video (above), which captures Callaway and Altomare during their recording session with Tony-winning Anastasia composer Stephen Flaherty accompanying them on piano.

Callaway, who provided the singing vocals for the 1997 animated film of Anastasia, was the first to sing the Academy Award-nominated song by Tony Award-winning collaborators Lynn Ahrens and Flaherty.

Twenty years later, the torch was passed to Altomare, who created the role in the 2017 Broadway adaptation of Anastasia, which currently plays the Broadhurst Theatre.

They came together earlier this year to perform the new duet arrangement for audiences at Feinstein's/54 Below. Watch the live concert performance here.

“I can’t tell you how often people come up to me and tell me how much they loved the movie and how Anastasia was their childhood,” Callaway said. “Now they, as well as a whole new generation are getting to fall in love all over again with Anastasia the Broadway musical, and Christy’s beautiful performance. I think this recording is going to make a lot of people happy.”

The duet features accompaniment by composer Flaherty and a vocal arrangement by Benjamin Rauhala.
