John McDaniel, the Emmy winner and Drama Desk-nominated orchestrator, is serving as musical director and arranger for The Most Beautiful Room in New York, a new musical having its premiere this May at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut.

The show, with music by Oscar winner and Tony nominee David Shire (Baby, Big, Closer Than Ever, Take Flight) and book and lyrics by The New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik, runs May 3–28 at the regional theatre.

The musical, which is set in a tiny family restaurant struggling to survive in Manhattan’s Union Square, will be directed by Long Wharf Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein.

McDaniel has been a special guest performer on two of Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises. McDaniel can be heard on the album, Come Together: Barb Jungr & John McDaniel perform The Beatles and is scheduled to serve as music director and arranger/orchestrator for a new musical based on the the works of pop singer Nat King Cole, planned for fall 2017 at People's Light and Theater Company in Malverne, Pennsylvania.
