The songs of Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Sting, whose musical The Last Ship ran on Broadway during the 2014–2015 season, will be heard on the New York stage again January 16 when performers John McDaniel and Barb Jungr reunite for a single performance of their cabaret show Float Like a Butterfly—The Music of Sting at Feinstein’s/54 Below.
The show, which premiered at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan in June, includes Sting hits “Fields of Gold,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Every Little Thing,” and “Englishman in New York.”
The Grammy- and Emmy Award-winning McDaniel has served as musical director, arranger, orchestrator, and/or conductor on numerous Broadway shows, including Bonnie & Clyde, Catch Me If You Can, Brooklyn, Taboo, and the 1994 revival of Grease.
McDaniel and Jungr appeared previously at Feinstein’s/54 Below in 2016 in a concert of Beatles music. That concert, Come Together, was recorded and released in October 2016, and was celebrated in a January concert at Don’t Tell Mama.
Feinstein’s/54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street, beneath Studio 54, in Manhattan. Doors open at 5:15 PM and the performance is scheduled to begin at 7 PM January 16. Tickets, which cost $35 to $75 (plus a $25 food/drink minimum), can be ordered here. Tickets on the day of performance after 4 PM are available only by calling (646) 476-3551.
McDaniel has been a special guest performer on Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises.
