Film & TV News Jessie Mueller Will Make Her Feature Film Debut in Steven Spielberg's The Post The cast also includes Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sarah Paulson, and Carrie Coon.

Jessie Mueller, who is set to return to Broadway in 2018 as Julie Jordan in Carousel, has landed her first feature film role. The Tony winner will play real-life advice columnist Judith Martin (a.k.a. “Miss Manners”) in Steven Spielberg's The Post, inspired by true events.

The historical drama, penned by Liz Hannah and Josh Singer, features a slew of fellow stage alums, including Meryl Streep, Sarah Paulson, the Off-Broadway-bound Carrie Coon, Tom Hanks, Tracy Letts, and Stark Sands (who will also return to Broadway this season in Kinky Boots).

Formerly titled The Papers, The Post will focus on the Washington Post's 1971 publishing of the Pentagon Papers. The movie, now in post-production, will premiere in a limited release December 22 before going wide January 12, 2018.

Mueller's co-star Hanks is also attached as a producer for the Sony Pictures film adaptation of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical; the show won Mueller a 2014 Tony Award for her performance in the title role.

Mueller received additional Tony nominations for On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (her Broadway debut) in 2012 and her most recent Broadway stint, Waitress, in 2016. Additional stage credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Nice Work If You Can Get It.
